1. About Me

I’m Sophie Bushwick, a freelance science writer and podcaster for publications such as Scientific American, Discover Magazine, and io9. You can check out my work, or read about why I chose this career right here…

I love learning about just about everything, particularly science. My physics studies (at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota) made me appreciate the rigor that scientists apply to their own theories - even if it means slogging through ridiculously long mathematical proofs. Mostly, though, learning and writing about science is awesome because learning theories forces you to see the world in a new way. I particularly enjoy the particle zoo, the mysteries of dark matter and dark energy, quantum spookiness, and graphene.

Other interests include: the history of fairy tales, reading, British history (particularly the Plantagenet and Tudor families), theater, crossword puzzles, and walking around NYC.
